Are you using Chatgpt or any AI based tool?

In the past few weeks just like everyone else, I have been testing and playing with chatgpt and also explored more than a dozen other AI tools. I feel now I have a much better understand of what these tools offer and currently, what their capabilities are.

Many of the AI tools are very specific for specific groups of people solving for certain things. The only one that comes to mind that is more holistic is chatgpt, given it’s a chatbot. What I realize is that if you have expertise in any area, then these tools work as a productivity tool, not a tool that you worry about replacing you.

I used many techniques shared by experts in chatgpt and for most cases it does a decent job. After trying it and using the various permutations and combinations, I am purely using chatgpt as a productive tool rather than an anything else.

Even with the best of inputs, i still have to review, revise, change a number of things that the tool throws at me. Especially in my primary area of work around Total Rewards, where situations and perspective change company to company, I still have to think through a fair bit. I love that is has made life easy, and I am starting to use it almost on a daily basis but as a productivity tool only.

It helps me save time, become more efficient and become more independent. Rather than starting from scratch and spend time building something from ground up, I am using it to build efficiency. Given there is no limit to how many times you can get the tool to redo the same thing, you can play around the inputs to make it more suitable for acceptance.

I also see a lot of discussion around if these tools will take over your job. If you are in a job or have a skill set which by default these tools are now replicating with ease, then you have something to think about. You need to build depth and experience to such an extent that these AI tools cannot match your level of expertise.

This means building holistic experience, expertise and knowledge. This is where design experience comes in. Operational and administrative work will be automated, infact it already has to a huge extent. It is working through 100s of scenarios and building a knowledge base which in real time in real life scenarios cannot be matched easily. If you are not using these tools, then you should. Sooner or later you will have no chance so you might as well get a head start.

Most of the other tools I have used have limited capabilities or are single purpose tools and not suitable for general use so for me not of much value.
