The only competition you have is with yourself !!

My first 1 hour run attempt in 14 months thanks to a ligament and meniscus tear. It helps that the running route is simply outrageously gorgeous so you sometimes forget the pain. The unobstructed

#marinabay circle and beyond is a runner’s paradise.

The per km split and distance is nowhere close to what I would like but my knee survived and feels not too bad so its a win. Few learnings on my way to recovery (still in progress)

  • I had a fantastic Osteopath who helped me and advised me. Don’t assume and shoot in the dark. Get someone qualified / expert to help and guide you. Get to the root of the problem.
  • Continued focus on strength training and working the muscles around the knee (still needs a lot of work). Do what you can, don’t stop completely and make excuses.
  • You don’t run marathons by training overnight. Achieving anything in life requires work, planning, time. Physical transformations are the hardest in the my view. No job I have ever done comes even closer.
  • Training for marathons further taught me about disciplines, patience and mental resilience.
  • Continue to do other forms of cardio especially in the gym which is torture but you just have to push and pass the mental wall. Sometimes the hardest and worst fights are mental and emotional.
  • Listen to your body. You have to balance between pushing and taking it easy from time to time.
  • Running is both an art and science. Regular hour plus runs require discipline, focus, fuel and rest.

Your improvement is only dependent upon you. Sometimes you have to work through pain to move ahead. Comfort is the killer of progress. Keep pushing.

If you are not moving ahead, you are not moving at all !!
